Bachelorette Party Dress and Final Post

This blog simply does not get the attention it used to. Over the past 2 years a lot has happened in my life and I have just come to a point where I no longer have time to post my outfits everyday. It makes me sad to walk away from this project, but I hoped I was able to offer some good advice and outfit inspiration during the short lifespan of this blog. It will remain up for reference, and who knows, maybe someday I will have time to post again. Until then you can occasionally catch pictures of what I'm wearing on Instagram, username: Kiki_Libra.

So, we're approaching that time of year again-- wedding season. Last fall, for my best friend's "roaring 20's" themed bachelorette party this is what I wore:

Outfit Details: Dress, tights, headband, and flower pin attached to headband- Forever 21; Necklace and gloves- costume shop; Shoes- Aldo. Approximate outfit cost: $65

I had hoped since Gatsby was being filmed that more 20's style dresses that were not costumes would be out, but this is the best I could find at the time. I did recently get rid of the dress during my closet purge, mostly because it felt like a shapeless sack and the color was too close to my skin tone. I replaced it before I purchased it with a drop waist fringe skirt black dress that will hopefully make an appearance on the blog soon. I also somewhat recently bought a bright pink drop waist dress with a floral lace top and pleated skirt. Pictures below.

Both dresses were purchased for $29 each from Forever 21.

And, of course, recent shoe purchases: On the left- Sketchers wedges; and on the right- Valentino inspired flats from Forever 21.

Hasta!

Closet Purge and Recent Accessory Buys

Well, it snowed again. Time to look into relocating somewhere warm... I don't have any outfit photos to post yet, but I will tomorrow once I have the patience to see why my phone isn't backing up photos to Google + for about the billionth time.

Anyway, I recently did a spring clean closet overhaul. I sold or donated over 60 items, including 12 dresses. It felt great to purge that much stuff from my life! See tips on spring closet cleaning here. I think my boyfriend also enjoys having his 1/4 of our shared closet back. No, he does not get any room in the dress closet, that is solely for dresses!

Everything I parted with...
Instead of buying new clothes, recently I've just been buying stuff for my house, oh yes, and accessories-- because they go out of style quickly and are the easiest way to update your wardrobe, especially if, like me, you are not interested in some of the clothing styles being sold in stores at the moment. I mean camo? Mid-drift baring shirts and dresses with the sides cut out? Platform/wedge sneakers? Yeah, the Spice Girls called and they want their 90's tour attire back.. And what the HELL is this?!
How the hell are you supposed to walk in these without breaking your ankle or falling backwards?! I'm pretty unimpressed by what's "in style" right now, so it looks like I'll take a break from shopping. This happens every couple of years, I remember in 2010 I didn't shop for nearly a year because all the prints that were in style gave me a headache to even look at, let alone think of wearing.

Anyway, off my soapbox and onto my recent buys:

The peach and mint necklaces were purchased from Charlotte Russe and everything else was purchased at Charming Charlie.

Happy Hump Day!

Tuesday Tip: Lazy girl's guide to a "good hair day"

So, I've never done a "beauty" post, but people ask me how I do my hair a lot. I am not and will NEVER be a morning person and I do not use heat appliances on my hair. When I got addicted to Pinterest (about 2 years ago... limited activity in the past year), I discovered the "sock bun". To curl my hair I make sure it is mostly dry (I have fine, super straight hair), put it in a loose pony tail on top of my head, divide the pony tail into two halves- left and right, cross them over and then roll them onto the sock bun and remove the pony tail holder once the sock bun is close to my head. The only styling product I use is Organix Coconut Milk Anti-breakage serum. I found that the more products I try to add to my hair the harder it is to curl. I do this before I go to bed at night and in the morning I simply remove the sock bun and go. It only takes me about 20 minutes to get ready, mostly because it's usually too hard to get out of bed.

That's it, simple soft curls by morning!

And your daily dose of cuteness- a baby bunny in my back yard!

Casual Weekend Style

Well, I think it comes off pretty clear that my personal/ weekend style is far different than the preppy and polished outfits I wear to work. I tend to love to dress more bohemian on my own time. Since spring seems to have finally arrived in Colorado (if I see more snow before October I'm looking for a job in a warm state), I can finally break out my dresses and skirts!

Outfit details: Dress- Ross; Sandals- Old Navy (old); Bracelets- Target; Necklace and earrings- thrifted from Plato's Closet. Total outfit cost: approximately $38.

Yes, that's right. I'm going to start estimating the cost of each outfit I wear. After all, this blog is all about being a bargain fashionista... or, shall we say a "bargainista" :)

Weekend Wrap-up

Well, the week got away from me, but luckily I have a wonderful boyfriend who will take pictures of me late on a Friday night as I put back on the outfits I wore during the week for photos.  So, here's what I wore:

Outfit 1- Inspired Outfit
Inspiration photo

Outfit details: Skirt and tights- Target; Shirt- H&M; Boots- Madden Girl; Necklace- Forever 21.

I switched the outfit around a little, but I thought the color of the skirt was comparable. The color of the skirt in the original photo is more cranberry than purple. Sorry the photos came out so blurry, I think my lens was dirty... oops. Fail.

Outfit 2
I read on another blog that you could always layer that T-shirt you own that is slightly too big over a button-up shirt to make it fashionable. I'm still not sure how I feel about the results... Thoughts?

Outfit details: Button-up shirt:-H&M, T-shirt- Target; Necklace- Charming Charlie; Shoes- Steve Madden; Owl ring and earrings- Forever 21; Skirt- Ross; Watch- Stuhrling (gift).

Outfit 3

Outfit details: Shirt and skirt- Forever 21; Necklace- Candies (Kohl's); Watch and bracelet- gifts; Shoes- Steve Madden.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Concert Style

All of you going to Coachella weekend 2 I will try to ignore your pics on Facebook and Instagram out of pure jealousy of great music and great weather. As you all know by now, I am a huge concert junkie and I'm willing to survive rain, hail, snow, tornado warnings, etc., to see my favorite bands. It's still freezing here in Colorado, so this is what I wore to the last concert I attended 2 weeks ago.

Outfit Details: Dress, boots, and earrings- Forever 21; Tights- Target; Necklace- thrifted at Plato's Closet; Bag- Love Culture.

I also wore a faux leather jacket with this since it was so cold out. It's not pictured, but you can find it in this post and this post

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend!
